One of the ways I’m using SkedPal is to schedule time to watch TV shows. For that, I use Trakt’s RSS feed via Zapier to create tasks for the next episode to watch.
There is however one problem when it comes to currently airing shows: The feed has the next episode, even if it hasn’t aired yet. Within SkedPal, I can use that airdate in the Plan for… field, thereby having the watch time scheduled only after the episodes has aired. However, in Zapier, Plan for… is a numeric field, only allowing Later Today, Tomorrow, This Week, and Next Week.
Is there a way that could be changed in such a way that a specific date(time) can be entered, maybe even in addition to the current possibilities?
Thank you very much, and also thank you for this amazing application!
A quick update on this:
‘tasks’ have a flexible schedule by nature. In other words, when you set a plan for a task, it can be scheduled any time within a time frame. But, an episode of a TV show has a fixed time. So, a fixed event on Google calendar is a better option for you. Have you tried to make a Zap with Google calendar?
SkedPal Zap can take a specific date using the due date, but that won’t work for fixing a specific time of the episode.2 months ago MxFlixParticipant
Hi Seth, and thanks for the welcome. Also thanks for looking into it 🙂
Concerning your second message: The problem is that I don’t always have time to watch episodes when they’re aired, which is exactly why I’d love to use SkedPal to find a good time to watch them afterward.
I see. What I would suggest is a semi-automatic method: Use Trakt’s RSS/Zappier to add a task to your Inbox. Your Inbox is the placeholder for all your incoming tasks that have not been ‘processed’. Then, regularly process your tasks by giving them the right duration, and plan time frames.
Ideally, the airdate could be assigned to the ‘Start date’ of SkedPal, but currently, our Zappier integration doesn’t support that.2 months ago MxFlixParticipant
That’s how I am currently doing it. I had hoped that it could be automated further…
Guess I’ll wait for the API to be developed and then do it myself ;P
Sure; either API or an improved Zappier integration!
