Is there anyway to find tasks that have newly been added to Skedpal? In particular, I’m looking for ones that have been added via Asana, but maybe it also applies to those added through email, I’m not sure.
This seems like a key feature since tasks added this way need to have timemaps and durations set correctly, as well as possibly other fields. They often also need to be set to “focus,” but it appears that a lot of the time they are already focused when they come in. I am not sure how that happens. Because of that, I can’t use “Backlog” to find them. The only way I’ve found to do it so far is to go through every project and look at the last few tasks in the project. This is really a pain because I have so many projects.
Is there a way we could have these added to Inbox? Or at least to backlog? Or is there a way to have a report showing all tasks that show “New” in the scheduling status area on the task detail? (This last would only work before Skedpal automatically updates the schedule).
Thanks for any ideas.2 months, 1 week ago SethParticipant
Hi Dan, I do see the value of the task creation time and I agree with you on the challenge you’re facing. We will definitely consider this in our next design. In the meantime, here are some suggested workarounds:
- Tasks coming from Asana: I would sync all my projects in Asana to my SkedPal Inbox rather than specific projects in SkedPal. This way, I always know my new tasks are waiting for processing in my Inbox. Then, after processing, I’d move them to the right project(s) within SkedPal. This will not impact the organization of the task in Asana.
- I would not assign any due dates to my tasks in Asana. Otherwise, they’ll sync into SkedPal with the focus on. I’ll assign plans to my tasks as part of my Inbox processing.
- Emails and Evernote sync to Inbox by default unless you specify a project. So, I would follow the same rule as above.
Seth, thanks! I like the idea of syncing everything to inbox and then moving it as part of inbox processing. But one question: if I am currently syncing project AsanaX with project SkedpalX and I change it to sync AsanaX with inbox, will all of my currently synced tasks in those 2 projects lose their sync?
To answer my own question: it looks like the tasks will be moved in Skedpal from the SkedpalX project to the Inbox, but will not lose their sync or any other information, so I can just copy them back to the proper project. Please let me know if you think I’ll lose any info that way, and Thanks!2 months, 1 week ago SethParticipant
You got it, Dan. No information should be lost in this process. In case you face any bugs, please let us know.
