My colleagues schedule meetings with me, often at 8am, but my usual work hours are 11am to 7pm. I’m trying to:
a) block off the 8am-11am timeframe in my Outlook calendar so I don’t get invited to an 8am meeting, and
b) keep that time free in SkedPal so I can put in home tasks during that time.
Is there a way I can do this?
The easiest way I can think of is to choose something like an “out of office” (its one of the choices under free/busy/tentative/out-of-office) calendar event for 8-11am in Outlook, and make Skedpal automatically sideline anything that says “out of office”. But Skedpal doesn’t seem to allow this currently.
Is there a way to set it up so a certain type of event is automatically sidelined? Its tedious to sideline them every day manually.3 months, 1 week ago SethParticipant
How would you envision specifying the type of event so SkedPal recognizes it? The only way I can think of is to put the morning appointments on a different calendar. But, Outlook does not have the capability to amalgamate your busy times from multiple calendars, unfortunately.
i can imagine a lot of possibilities, but I don’t know what SkedPal supports.
Perhaps setting the outlook events to “out of office” and telling SkedPal to sideline all such events.
Or setting it up as usual in Outlook as a recurring event, and then have the SkedPal app recognize that its recurring, and give me the option with the SkedPal app to sideline the entire series.
If this can work, then imagine also using it to block out personal working periods that my colleagues won’t schedule meetings during. I’m increasingly seeing a need for this, given that on many days I have the day virtually full of meetings don’t have long enough stretches of time to get anything done.3 months ago SethParticipant
Thanks for your feedback. In SP 3, you’ll have the option to define what each event status means. In other words, you’ll be able to define if ‘Out of office’ is meant to be busy or free for you. This will enable you to use event status to automatically sideline your events.
SP3 is due to be released in mid-2020.3 months ago praultParticipant
Excellent – thanks! I’ll look forward to that.
